We are thrilled to bring Annie Cloud in to be the Head Coach of CommRow in 2024. Annie is from Narberth, Pennsylvania and is returning to Craftsbury for her fourth summer. Annie has been an intern for the sculling camps the past three summers. She started rowing in her freshman year of high school with her triplet sisters. She is a rising junior at Stanford University where she is a member of the lightweight rowing team and is majoring in psychology. She has been racing larger sweep boats in college and cannot wait to be surrounded by singles again at Craftsbury!

Hosmer Community Rowing (CommRow) runs four afternoons a week on Great Hosmer Pond, from early summer through the end of September. While CommRow remains available for all ages and abilities, for 2024 the program offers more opportunities for juniors than in previous years.

When the season begins experienced rowers are welcome to attend CommRow any or all four days, Monday-Thursday. If you have never been to CommRow before, have never rowed at Craftsbury before, and/or have less than one year of experience, your first CommRow session must be on a Wednesday.

Beginners and those new to Craftsbury must attend at least one Wednesday session initially.

Upon receiving approval of the head coach, they can purchase an upgrade to the intermediate program that allows them to begin attending CommRow on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. CommRow season ends in late September or early October, depending on weather and staffing.

Scullers will learn primarily in the single. A participant's first session in the program will feature a flip and recovery experience, so bring a towel and a change of clothes for your first day. After instruction, the flip experience gives you the chance to demonstrate you can get back into a boat or swim to shore in the event of a capsize.

How to Join

In order to participate in CommRow, all participants must:

  1. Have a current Outdoor Center membership

  2. Register for the program (registration for ‘24 will open in May)

    $150 for unlimited days Mon-Thurs

$50 for Wednesdays only (beginners who have permission of the coaching staff can upgrade to Mon-Thurs)

  3. Reserve a slot in each session you plan to attend

Private Lessons

We offer private lessons for those looking for dedicated, one-on-one coaching sessions with Craftsbury sculling coaches. We’ll meet you at your level and work with you to improve your sculling based on your specific interests and goals. Both the coach and rower will be in singles for the session.

Private lessons are available Mondays-Thursdays from 4:00-5:30pm. Lessons will take place at the same location and under the same safety protocols as CommRow. Lessons can be scheduled by calling the front office at 802-586-7767.

The lesson price is $120/session and includes coaching, equipment usage, and water time.
