While part of the Green Racing Project skiers contested the final World Cups of 2018 in Davos, Switzerland, the rest of the skiers were racing right at home in Craftsbury, Vermont. It was a weekend of solid results for the skiers, who will now focus on the upcoming races at US Cross Country Championships in January.

Davos World Cup

Davos features a tough sprint course, with two laps of a course that includes both a steep kicker of climb, and a drag race-like flat. GRP skier Ida Sargent started her freestyle sprint day well, with a 14th place in the qualifier. She raced in the first quarterfinal heat. After leading going into the second lap, she placed 5th in her heat, and 21st overall on the day. She ends Period 1 of World Cup racing ranked 34th in the sprint standings among women.

The following day featured a 10/15k freestyle individual start. In the women's 10k, Caitlin Patterson placed 38th, +2:22 from race winner Therese Johaug. In the men's 15k, Adam Martin took 67th place as the 2nd American. Full results from the weekend are available on FIS-ski.com. The World Cup season returns on December 29th with the Tour de Ski. Ben Lustgarten, as the SuperTour leader, will be the only GRP racer in the Tour de Ski, and the rest of the World Cup crew will race at US Cross Country Championships in Craftsbury.

Craftsbury Sprint Opener

Meanwhile, a few of the GRP skiers were racing at home in the sprint opener in Craftsbury. Kaitlynn Miller, Corey Stock, and Akeo Maifeld-Carucci all raced the first sprint, a classic sprint on Saturday. In the qualifier, Miller took 3rd place and Stock took 5th. Maifeld-Carucci placed 4th in the men's qualifier. Miller won her quarterfinal and semifinal, then went on to the A Final, where she placed 2nd. Stock placed 4th in her semifinal, and ended up 7th overall. Maifeld-Carucci also made it all the way to the A Final for men, where he placed 5th. Results from the Sprint Doubleheader are available on BullittTiming.com. Next up for the skiers is the Eastern Cup this coming weekend, also in Craftsbury!
