Training week of 6/19

Hi CSC squad! This week:

EVERYONE:

  1. Attendance form: y’all are getting so good at this!

  2. Training plan: always here and in the same place in the googleverse

  3. Switch to summer schedule: with school being out, this week we switch to the summer schedule. Double check those practice times in the training plan — not only are some of the times different, but the days of the week your group has practice may have changed too.

  4. BKL Camp week = extra funky practice times: because we like to make things extra confusing, this week’s practice times are different even than advertised for the summer switch to accommodate the staffing & logistical constraints of BKL Camp week, which is this week. Things should settle down and be consistent after June 26.

EC RACE + HS COMP:

  1. Easy week: In our repeating 3-week training cycle of medium-hard-easy, this is an easy week. Fewer hours overall and less intensity than last week so you can recover and be ready for the next build.

  2. Morning practices: we move to morning practices this week — some of them are at 9:00am and some are at 8:30am (gasp!) to link up with the college group and/or avoid BKL Camp-induced staffing shortage. We know some of you come from 50+ minutes away, but such are our constraints this week. Read the training plan extra carefully and be ready to start practices on time. Pepa, Jake, and Callie will be cycling through as your coaches this week and we want to look good for them by being prepared and prompt!

  3. BKL camp volunteers: if any of you are eager to volunteer with BKL camp some, email or Slack us! It’s Monday 6/19 - Friday 6/23, 9am - 2pm.

  4. Overnights in Victory and the White Mts: [in case you missed this announcement last week] we are planning two team overnight trips, tentatively scheduled for the dates below (weather permitting). These will be pretty cheap (we’ll be largely camping), slightly dirt-baggy, and hopefully a lot of fun.

    • Saturday, 7/8: overnight @ Victory, VT, at the McGill family camp - bikes + running/hiking

    • EITHER Wednesday 7/26 or Thursday 7/27: overnight @ somewhere in the White Mountains (NH) - hike/running. If there’s one night that’s way better for you, let us know.

  5. Lost Nation Roll: zomg July 1 is the week after this Saturday.

  6. Shoutout to the Sunday run/ride crew: those Albany-based routes had some VERT. Major kudos to all who tackled them.

  7. Goals meetings: Sunday after practice will be a good day for goals meetings for any of you who haven’t had one yet. Mid-week will be chaotic with BKL Camp. Please email/slack us to set up a time.

U14:

  1. Rollerskiing: double rollerski week!

  2. Practice schedule: slightly funky shift to the summer schedule in that there is no Tuesday this week, but there is Thurs/Sun.

  3. Props to Amalie, Nora, and Adele: for tackling a HUGE run/ride with the juniors today! Those hills were no joke.

BKL:

  1. This week is off: we will NOT be having organized BKL practices during BKL camp. The majority of you are enrolled in camp and will be tuckered out and we coaches will most definitely be tuckered out. The rest of you should enjoy a break from us. If you really wanna do something training-related, come check out the Tuesday night race series!

MASTERS:

  1. Looks like Alex has some spicy intervals planned for you on Sunday!

See you soon!
