Training week of 10/21

EVERYONE:

  1. Shoutout to Amelia Circosta, who has represented our club well at the NEG/NTG camp this past week out on Park City, Utah! Amelia was selected to join the best skiers from around the country for a week of training and learning. Way to crush it, Amelia!

  2. Attendance form indulge us, eh?

  3. Equipment: season-long rental ordering will come at you this week. Promise. Then fitting windows will start in early November.

  4. Winter programs: while many programs are currently full, don’t be afraid of the waitlists. Dozens have moved off waitlists already! We just need to make sure we can staff programs appropriately before we keep adding numbers.

JUNIORS:

  1. Weird weekend: Saturday we wanna go watch a bunch of you race at the state meet so we’re taking a van down. Come if you want and run around in the process. Sunday Jake will lead an optional strength workout.

  2. Two more weeks of the summer/fall schedule, holy moly, yes it’s true. When November hits we start offering a bajillion practices.

  3. Looking ahead to winter: Here are all the details that exist so far re: the Eastern Cup schedule & Craftsbury’s team travel plans.

  4. Racing licenses: You can read more about what you need and for what kind of racing at this blog post. Holler with questions; it can be confusing.

  5. Interested in Ski Orienteering? Then you might be interested in learning about representing team USA at Junior World Orienteering Championships, held in Finland this season, March 19-23, 2025. Holler at us if interested and we can put you in touch with the right people to learn more. Applications are due Oct. 31.

U14s:

  1. Weird weekend: Saturday we wanna go watch a bunch of the juniors race at the state meet so we’re taking a van down. Come if you want and run around in the process. No organized U14 practice Sunday, BUT y’all are welcome to come hammer intervals with the juniors Friday.

  2. Two more weeks of the summer/fall schedule, holy moly, yes it’s true. When November hits we start offering a whole lot more practices.

BKL:

Nothing for now! Thanks for a great summer/fall; see you in December. Or probably way before that to try on boots and stuff.

BIATHLETES:

  1. Thursday BKL/biker biathlon is done.

  2. Jr/U14 optional trip to Paul Smiths Nov 9/10. Find more info here if interested.

  3. Read this for info about racing this winter: Biathlon race opportunities 2024-25. (Notice there’s been a change to Jan 11/12- this Eastern Regional Cup has been moved from Craftsbury to La Patrie, Quebec and we will attend as a club.)

ADULTS/MASTERS:

  1. Rollerskiing: some of you have been out rollerskiing and that’s awesome! If you want to know the status of the loop’s leafiness on any given day, just email the junior coaches (jrskiing@craftsbury.com) or message us on Slack and we’ll let you know.

  2. Fall schedule: our last session of the fall will be Wednesday, October 30th. Then we’ll take a break from team training for November, and get back to it after Thanksgiving. If there’s a critical mass that wants to continue group training without a coach in November, we could continue to post workout ideas on Slack, so let us know.

BKL rollerski tunnel! Thanks to Christine Dillon for the pic.
