Training week of 10/14

EVERYONE:

  1. Attendance form yes, always and forever

  2. Winter programs: while many programs are currently full, don’t be afraid of the waitlists. Dozens have moved off waitlists already! We just need to make sure we can staff programs appropriately before we keep adding numbers.

  3. Equipment: more info coming soon re: season-long rentals for kids. We promise. We’re working on our rental system to streamline it a bit. With ~300 pairs of skis going out the door annually for season-long rentals, we need to do some upkeep on the back end of our system so coaches have a fighting chance of keeping things organized. We continue to offer rentals only to kids enrolled in our programs (or skiing with Craftsbury Academy) due to capacity limits. Adults and kids from elsewhere are encouraged to look at similar programs at local shops.

JUNIORS:

  1. Looking ahead another week: we likely won’t have practice on Sunday, Oct. 27th, the day after the VT high school state running championships. We may try to get a van down to states in Thetford on 10/26 if a bunch of you want to go watch.

  2. Looking ahead to winter: Here are all the details that exist so far re: the Eastern Cup schedule & Craftsbury’s team travel plans.

  3. Racing licenses: US Ski & Snowboard memberships get more expensive on Oct. 15; hop to it if you plan on doing any Eastern Cups this winter! While you’re at it, take care of your NENSA ones, too. You can read more about what you need and for what kind of racing at this blog post. Holler with questions; it can be confusing.

  4. Interested in Ski Orienteering? Then you might be interested in learning about representing team USA at Junior World Orienteering Championships, held in Finland this season, March 19-23, 2025. Holler at us if interested and we can put you in touch with the right people to learn more. Applications are due Oct. 31.

U14s:

  1. Looking ahead another week: we likely won’t have practice on Sunday, Oct. 27th, the day after the VT high school state running championships. We may try to get a van down to states in Thetford on 10/26 if a bunch of you want to go watch.

BKL:

  1. Last BKL fall session is this week, on Thurs 10/17. After that we’ll see you again when the snow flies!

BIATHLETES:

  1. No biker biathlon anymore due to the bike program being off-campus this week and then wrapping up!

  2. Read this for info about racing this winter: Biathlon race opportunities 2024-25

ADULTS/MASTERS:

  1. Stay tuned re: Sunday.

  2. Fall schedule: our last session of the fall will be Wednesday, October 30th. Then we’ll take a break from team training for November, and get back to it after Thanksgiving. If there’s a critical mass that wants to continue group training without a coach in November, we could continue to post workout ideas on Slack, so let us know.

In case y'all wondered if lunges would serve you in real life
