Training week of 3/4

EVERYONE:

No amount of rain can dampen the spirits at BKL Fest!

  1. FINAL FEW PRACTICES for most groups! Please read your groups info closely and take a good look at the training plan. Conditions have deteriorated fast with this warm and wet weather and it’s time to call it. We wanted to stretch it out longer but it’s not in the cards.

  2. Attendance form: yep

  3. Training plan: still here

  4. End of season party and potluck: still scheduled for the afternoon/evening of Weds, 3/20. Details to come.

  5. Rental equipment return: gah, we’re not ready for all of it yet! If you definitely won’t make it back after your last practice, you may return equipment. But we’d rather people hang onto it until our shindig on 3/20, when we’ll be more prepared to intake 300+ pairs of skis.

  6. Shoutout to our juniors: Anika Leahy, Ruth Krebs, Amelia Circosta, and Sage Grossi are headed to Junior Nationals! Tillie Lange, Olivia Serrano, Leila Griffith, Sara Saligman-McGill, Meg Voisin, Claire Serrano, Ben Wetherell, Sam Brondyke, Charlie Kehler, Sisu Lange, and Luke Murphy are headed to Eastern High School Championships! Phoebe Bakeman, Nora Demaine, Kate Mackenzie, Brinley Hirce, Adele Pritchard, Tillie Lange, Leila Griffith, Claire Serrano, Gavin Jolly, Oryon Hart, and Magnus Hayden are headed to New England U16 Championships! Wow wow wow. Go team!

  7. Summer: when we’ve planned anything, we’ll tell you first!

JUNIORS:

  1. Note the weird Monday/Tuesday this week. Yup.

  2. Be prepared for all modes: we’ll ski until we can’t, then we’ll pivot. From here on out, always bring running shoes and gym clothes.

  3. Our last day of organized practice will be Tues, 3/12, as you’ll see if you scroll down a bit on the plan.

  4. Do some running. Races from here on out will probably not have on-snow warmups. Getting your running legs on. Be smart and start mellow, please!

U14s:

  1. Great work at the BKL Festival! Wow you all did great! It was so fun to watch you and we’re so proud to be part of such a fun, kind, positive team.

  2. Last practices this week: that sneaked up on us but the skiing is getting rugged.

BKL:

  1. Great work at the BKL Festival! Wow you all did great! It was so fun to watch you and we’re so proud to be part of such a fun, kind, positive team.

  2. Very last BKL practice is Wednesday of this week: that sneaked up on us but the skiing is getting rugged. Keep an eye on Slack to make sure we can even hold those! All BKLers are welcome either/both days this week, regardless of what days you’re signed up for.

COMPETITIVE MASTERS:

  1. Stay tuned. We’d love to sneak in one more session on snow but it’s not great out there and it’s not supposed to freeze anytime soon. We’re not going to have a Thursday session but stay tuned for the possibility of a weekend one.

INTERMEDIATE MASTERS:

  1. No practice this week, either day. Conditions just aren’t conducive to fun skiing/learning right now. If things are looking up after this weekend, we’ll try to sneak in a final session for both groups next week.

BEGINNER MASTERS:

  1. No practice this week. Conditions just aren’t conducive to fun skiing/learning right now, plus many of you said you’d be away for town meeting (and your coaches will be, too!). If things are looking up after this weekend, we’ll try to sneak in a final session for both groups next week.

BIATHLON:

  1. Almost normal schedule this week, right up until Sunday. Starting Sunday, we’ll only be holding practices for Juniors, U14s, and anyone heading to Fort Kent for biathlon Nationals.

CATAMOUNTS:

  1. Great job to those of you who did the BKL Festival!

  2. Last practices are Tuesday, 3/5 and Wednesday, 3/6. And keep an eye on Slack to make sure we can do those! We WILL have them unless you hear otherwise.

Hope to see you all soon!
