Job Opening: Part-time Nordic coaching assistant

The Craftsbury Nordic Ski Club, part of the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, is seeking part-time coaching help for its youth ski programs for the 2017-2018 season. This coach will work with our current junior/BKL coaching staff to coach practices and help keep programs running when primary coaches are traveling for races. The job requires the following:
Consistent availability on Sundays from mid-November to mid-March and ideally also on Wednesdays. Time commitment will depend somewhat on experience level and could range from 15 hours per month to approximately 10 hours per week.
The desire to work with young skiers ages 6-18
The ability to lead engaging, fun practices and be approachable to all kids
Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills in environments that can include bad weather, equipment failures, competing demands, and general chaos
Experience teaching people how to skate and classic ski and improve their skiing, whether formally or informally
Close familiarity with all of the equipment involved in Nordic skiing, including comfort waxing skate and classic skis for most conditions
Experience Nordic ski racing; at least at a high school/equivalent level and ideally at a college/equivalent level
Strong communication skills
The ability to work well as part of a team
Willingness to commit in advance to working on specific dates
Flexibility depending on weather conditions, etc.

The position pays $15/hr. Candidates without Sunday availability will not be considered.
