GRP and Craftsbury Biathletes Podium at USBA Trials in Utah

This past weekend GRP biathletes Kelsey Dickinson, Raleigh Goessling, and Hallie Grossman, and Craftsbury Junior Biathlete Bjorn Westervelt competed at USBA Trials in Soldier Hollow, Utah. Trials consisted of three races that will be used to help name the next period’s IBU Cup team as well as the World Junior Team.
The first race was a sprint. For the women, Hallie and Kelsey raced their way onto the podium in first and second respectively each with one standing miss. On the men’s side, Raleigh also made his way onto the podium finishing second with two prone misses. In the youth men’s race, Bjorn finished 6th.
After one day off, the senior field competed in a mass start event. On the women’s side, Hallie was the only GRP competitor. She finished second cleaning her first stage with a total of five misses. For the men, Raleigh had a strong race once again landing on the podium but this time on the top tier.
A second sprint race marked the final event of trials. Hallie shot clean to win her second sprint of trials and Kelsey placed second with just one miss. On the men’s side, Raleigh topped the field for a second day in a row with another win. And adding one more first place finish to the collection was Bjorn who won the youth men’s race with three misses.
