Training week of 9/23

EVERYONE:

  1. Winter program information and registration: info and schedule are finalized here. Remember it’s a good idea to make sure you know how to log into your account and ensure your membership is current before registration opens Oct. 1!

  2. Attendance form yes, always and forever

  3. Team shirts: if you ordered one and haven’t picked it up yet, please do so. Right inside the clubhouse door.

JUNIORS:

  1. It’s a medium week: this time of year that means: little more volume, thanks largely to a big hike OD Sunday, plus some hard intensity Friday

  2. General coach musings about training: (keeping this here for one more week, cuz #knowledge)

    • During the school year, you have limited time to squeeze in training. Use your time productively. Treat your warmups and cooldowns like actual training and focus on executing the workout well. If you dilly dally about for just 10 minutes per practice twice a week all year long, that adds up to almost 20 hours of training time. Wild!

    • Pay attention to the little aches and pains, especially if you’re running a lot all of a sudden. Don’t let them get really bad before you seek out advice from a medical professional.

  3. Mansfield OD Sunday: likely with MNC! We have a point-to-point planned for the long version, and a loop for the shorter version. Read the training plan below for all the deets; and you MUST fill out the attendance form with your meetup location plans, as this workout will involve careful logistics. We will not take kindly to surprise appearances.

  4. Looking ahead to winter: Here are all the details that exist so far re: the Eastern Cup schedule & Craftsbury’s team travel plans. It’s never too early to start thinking about what licensing you’re going to need for said racing.

U14s:

  1. Mansfield OD Sunday: likely with MNC! The U14 group will start and end a loop from the Long Trail parking lot. Read the training plan below for all the deets; and you MUST fill out the attendance form with your meetup location plans, as this workout will involve careful logistics.

BKL:

  1. Scavenger hunt this week! Also, great job mountain biking last Thursday.

BIATHLETES:

  1. Read this for info about racing this winter: Biathlon race opportunities 2024-25

  2. Also if anyone wants to jump in a biathlon time trial with some Canadians here at Craftsbury next Saturday or Sunday (Oct 5-6) let Susan know.

ADULTS/MASTERS:

  1. Back to usual this week with both Wednesday and Sunday practice.
