Training week of 9/9

EVERYONE:

  1. Winter program information and registration: draft information is posted here. Some details are subject to change, as we’re still ironing out a few details (mostly coach scheduling). We should have final info up by the end of this week. We don’t expect the BKL/Jr/U14 schedules to change, nor do we plan to tinker with the registration opening date, so mark your calendars. We are working on some pieces of the registration process to make it smoother this year, but it’s a good idea to make sure you know how to log into your account and ensure your membership is current!

  2. Attendance form yes, always and forever

  3. Team shirts: if you ordered one and haven’t picked it up yet, please do so. Right inside the clubhouse door.

JUNIORS:

  1. This is the last big week of this cycle. Next week is a bit chiller. You got this!

  2. General coach musings about training:

    • During the school year, you have limited time to squeeze in training. Use your time productively. Treat your warmups and cooldowns like actual training and focus on executing the workout well. If you dilly dally about for just 10 minutes per practice twice a week all year long, that adds up to almost 20 hours of training time. Wild!

    • Pay attention to the little aches and pains, especially if you’re running a lot all of a sudden. Don’t let them get really bad before you seek out advice from a medical professional.

  3. Equipment: don’t ask us too many questions yet. We’ll get there. It’s not gonna snow for a bit. We think.

  4. “Free fall” rollerski races in Burlington on 9/22 (not this Sunday; the following one): the name is a bit confusing—these are not actually free. But we’re taking the team. Or at least anyone on the team who wants to go. Registration + info here.

  5. Looking ahead to winter: Here are all the details that exist so far re: the Eastern Cup schedule & Craftsbury’s team travel plans.

U14s:

  1. Business as usual this week. Make sure you’re not overdoing it if you’re coming to practices and doing a fall sport with school.

BKL:

  1. Back to normal shenanigans this week! Hope you had fun canoeing last week.

BIATHLETES:

  1. CCD Bikers: no biathlon session for you this week due to your practice being offsite

  2. End times: practices generally end 45 minutes after the start time listed on the training plan

  3. Events coming up this winter:

    • World Jr Trials: for U17 or older, if you want to race in World Jr Trials (selection races for representing Team USA on international trips) those are in Soldier Hollow the week after Christmas. We will send a Craftsbury coach and we do have a couple families planning to go. Age categories for those races are youth and junior only. Reach out with questions

ADULTS/MASTERS:

  1. Back to usual this week with both Wednesday and Sunday practice.
