Singletrack Closures this week

While it doesn't look quite like this out in the woods yet, it can be confusing out there with the addition of temporary trails. Watch for the snowshoe or bike signs to stay on mapped terrain. (Map from 2003 World Jr Champs)

We're excited to be hosting the Ski Orienteering World Cup, March 5-10. That does mean that we have to close the singletrack to snowshoeing and fatbiking on March 5-7, and 9-10. As always, you can stay up to date on our trail conditions via Trailhub, or our snow reports. Check our fatbike report here.

Read a bit more about the trail system and the changes that have been made to support this event this winter below.

Ski-O trails:
Wondering what's up with all the additional singletrack? Temporary trails are being groomed by snowshoe and snowmobile for the upcoming Ski-Orienteering World Cup races, March 5-10, 2018.

These trails intersect and overlap with existing snowshoe, MTB and ski trails in many sections of the trail network. It can get confusing out there! How are you to stay on the mapped singletrack? Pay attention to the wooden snowshoe or MTB signs.

Want to explore the temporary trails? If you are up for the adventure (you're physically prepared, have the skills and equipment to wander further afield), exploring the temporary trails is okay if they are hard packed. These are temporary trails, so they’re not built, or groomed to the same standard as the rest of our networks - use at your own risk.

Similarly, in the same way that we ask users to be mindful of on our network, please ski, ride, or snowshoe elsewhere during soft or warm conditions, particularly from February 25 – March 10. Like other skiers, ski-orienteers don’t like postholes.

Lastly, be aware that race organizers will be grooming these temporary trails early mornings and early evenings via snow machine.
