Editor’s note: Ruth Krebs and her family have been involved with the Center for the past almost decade or so. Ruth is organizing a mural project at the Center. Read on and get involved!

My name is Ruth Krebs. I am a junior athlete at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center and a senior in high school. I have been part of the ski community at the Center since I was 8 years old and have found many connections and valuable experiences here. I was inspired by my experience to investigate the Craftsbury Outdoor Center community and identify what people value most. Ultimately I will be designing and painting a mural representing these shared values. This project is guided by my year-long AP Research class.

The mural will highlight the values that the Craftsbury Outdoor Center community holds, specifically drawing from participants' perspectives. This will include interviews, conversations, and surveys of athletes (of all ages), coaches, staff, volunteers, and really anyone engaged at the Center. The information gathered will be used to identify recurring themes in order to design a mural.

I wanted to put the project idea out there and hear initial thoughts and feedback, as well as let the community know what I will be working on this winter and spring. Once the design is made I am hoping to organize some public paint days. More information will be forthcoming.

I will be reaching out to individuals shortly to start conducting interviews. Feel free to reach out to me at ruthkrebsvt@gmail.com if you are interested in an interview, or if you have any questions or concerns.
