GRP Biathletes Compete at Open Euro Champs and the 6th World Cup

Last weekend GRP biathletes competed at both Open European Championships and the World Cup.
In Antholz, Italy Clare Egan, Susan Dunklee, and Emily Dreissigacker raced the 6th World Cup. In the sprint race Susan posted the top U.S. women’s result in 35th with two misses. She was followed by Clare in 56th with three misses and Emily in 59th who shot clean. In the pursuit race Clare moved up 19 places to finish 37th. She cleaned her first two shooting stages. Emily moved up three places to finish 56th and also cleaned her first two stages.
Meanwhile at Open Euro Champs in Ridnaun, Italy Alex Howe raced to a solid 53rd place in the sprint with only one prone miss. In the following day’s pursuit he moved up from 53rd to 43rd with five misses cleaning his final standing stage. In the mixed relay Alex was joined by USBA teammates Chloe Levins, Deedra Irwin, and Paul Schommer. Alex anchored for the team cleaning both stages using a total of three spares. The team placed 17th with a total of 12 spares and no penalty laps. In the single mixed relay Susan was joined by her USBA teammate Lowell Bailey. They raced their way onto the podium in third with 10 spares and no penalty laps.
