Close-ups with pavement - aka rowers showing skiers how its done

Craftsbury is one of the most idyllic places to train - it is a place where you get the blissful opportunity to live as a focused athlete just eating, sleeping, rowing, and working, a perfect world.  But every once in a while one needs to explore the unknown, jump into a world of adventure to experience something new.  There is a continual debate here at the house of rowers and skiers as to who is stronger, fitter, better - a natural debate since both nordic skiing and rowing are recognized as the most physically demanding sports.  So some of the rowers decided to try roller skiing and some of the skiers came out and raced on the water with us. Aside from the taunting and trash talk, really they are jolly experiences to share our passion with our fellow athletes.  But someday when we are competent enough at the other sport we will face off in a battle of strength - probably.Anyway, on Wednesdays the skiers host a local kids training program.  Since we rowers are at the infant level of ability we got the opportunity to pick up skiing from the kids - a great ego boost - Ha!  We gave the skiers a run for their money on how awesome we are at skiing because we all managed to get up close and personal with the pavement, but we also made epic strides  - definitely on our way to using our poles and skating at the same time in an efficient manner.p.s. The kids in this program ran us into the dust.  The skiers are doing an amazing job of creating the next generation of competitors.  Not really a surprise considering the talent here.  If you live in the Craftsbury common area and would like to get your kiddos involved in this awesome training program contact the Center at skiing@craftsbury.com - another great membership opportunity at the Center.
