The Craftsbury Outdoor Center is proud to be a member of the Northern Forest Center’s Bike the Borderlands initiative. The Borderlands are a coalition of eight trail centers across Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and southern Quebec. Bringing together these eight organizations under the Borderlands umbrella showcases the best riding the Northeast has to offer, while also providing an economic benefit to businesses in each community. Great trails, delicious food, and welcoming communities await you at each of the Borderlands destinations.
We encourage visitors to the Outdoor Center’s trail network to check out the other Borderlands networks. Closest to us are the well known Kingdom Trails over in East Burke and Circuits Frontières in East Hereford, Quebec.
In addition to promoting tourism and riding at each network, the Borderlands initiative also provides grant funding for programming at each member network. In 2021 the Outdoor Center received Borderlands one grant to buy locally-sourced cedar decking to rebuild bridges across our network and another to buy 16” youth mountain bikes to teach riding to elementary school children at four local schools. Read more about that program over on our blog.
