GRP IBU Biathlon Squad Competes in Slovakia

GRP Biathletes Hallie Grossman, Kelsey Dickinson and Raleigh Goessling took on Sprint and Pursuit competitions in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia on February 13th and 14th. 

In the Sprint race Raleigh raced first cleaning his prone stage and missing one in standing. Goessling’s speed on the skis was just enough to get him into the Pursuit race. Raleigh finished 56thoverall and second on the US men’s team. 

Hallie Grossman missed one shot prone and two in standing. With fast skiing, Grossman placed 36th overall and was the best of the US women’s squad. Kelsey made one mistake in her prone stage but dropped all her standing targets. Gritty skiing placed Dickinson 50th overall and third among Team USA’s women. 

All three GRP biathletes qualified for the Pursuit races via their top 60 finishes in the Sprint races. 

Goessling got the Pursuit day going by shooting clean in his first prone stage. Raleigh then made two mistakes in the second prone, and one apiece in each standing bout. Raleigh picked up one place over the course of the competition finishing 55th and best among the US men. 

Hallie and Kelsey both missed two of their ten prone shots andkept competitive on the first two skiing laps. Hallie got the standing stages started with two missed shots, while Kelsey made one mistake. Hallie threw one shot astray and Kelsey went 5/5 on the last shooting of the race. 

Grossman raced home in 39th and Dickinson placed 52nd.
