Craftsbury Weekend notes: December 20-22
Trail closures Friday, Saturday and Sunday
The Center will be hosting New England’s racing community this weekend. More details to come, but it will be a high volume of racers, closed courses and who knows what things will look like after any weather this week. Here’s the existing info.
Given the volume of competitors and the course repair we’re working on to rehab the courses we’re going to have a lot of closures this weekend. This is noted on the conditions board, but worth re-iterating here:
Friday, December 20 - noon - 2:00pm. 2.5k course closed. Once the course opens at 2pm, the sprint course will be the primary skiing direction and it will be marked with pink/yellow arrows. Racers who want to check out the 2.5km can ski the section that goes down Dennis, up Moss, up Dino, and around the stadium. Those will be marked with white/red arrows. There will be a small travel lane back from Dino through the Little Dip for folks looking at the distance course.
Saturday, December 21 - 9:25-3:50pm - 1.5 & 2.5k closed.
Sunday, December 22 - 8:55am-4:00pm
How to get involved with the Eastern Cup racing
How to avoid the racing:
The weekend will get full - at least the parking lots and facilities if nothing else. We have decent access to trails for day skiers and likely 20k or so of trails of varying coverage and skills levels. We’ll get the full scoop on conditions when the groomers wrap up the biathlon race this morning and get out to the far reaches of the trail system. Watch our Conditions board.
EV Charging this weekend
With the combination of a lot of trailers, a lot of teams, very full parking lots and a lot of EVs in the ski world EV users should not plan on being able to charge this weekend. Even if we're able to preserve some charger spaces, they will be very limited, in high demand, and unlikely to turn over very frequently if at all during the day.
