U23 Summer Ski Training Group for 2017
Last Updated: 23.May.2017
We’re excited to announce the roster for our summer 2017 U23 ski training group. This group of athletes is in between seasons at their respective colleges and universities, but for the summer they will be training full-time with the Green Racing Project athletes in residence in Craftsbury, as well as working at the Center.
Kelsey Dickinson, a biathlete and cross country skier, will be joining us from the College of St. Scholastica. Originally from Winthrop, Washington, Kelsey skied for the Methow Valley Nordic Ski Team in high school, joined Sun Valley for a post-grad year, and also competed for the Maine Winter Sports Center biathlon team before going on to college. In biathlon, she’s had her share of success, qualifying for World Juniors and the Junior European Championship Team in 2014 and competing on the IBU Cup in 2015. Since starting her collegiate career at St. Scholastica she’s twice represented the team at NCAA Championships. Kelsey is looking forward to learning more about sustainable technology at the Center, and also is excited about the opportunity to train with a group of high-level female athletes.
Both Lewis Nottonson and Adam Luban are athletes at Middlebury College. Lewis grew up in Acton, Massachusetts, where he competed for Cambridge Sports Union. At Middlebury, his top collegiate regular season result was 6th in a 20k freestyle, and he also placed 26th in that same event at NCAA’s. However, his winter highlight was building a 5 ft. tall jump at Rikert (near Middlebury) after a late winter storm. Lewis is looking forward to meeting a new group of athletes and coaches in Craftsbury, but also expressed enthusiasm for the dining hall food. His love of mountain biking will set him up well to help with building and maintaining the Center’s trail system, as well as riding it!
Adam hails from Syracuse, New York, where he grew up racing for Rochester Nordic Racing and the Town of Webb ski team. Since joining the Middlebury College ski program, he has raced to 4 EISA top ten carnival finishes, and placed 6th in the junior mass start at US Nationals in Houghton in 2016. However, his number one career highlight was beating Middlebury head coach Andrew Johnson in the Snow Bowl hill climb in 2014. This summer, he can’t wait to enjoy the dining hall, train with post grad skiers, mountain bike, and spend a summer at sea level with green plants and oxygen after being out West for the past three summers. He hopes to work with younger athletes and learn more about the trail building process in Craftsbury while he’s here.
Please join us in welcoming these three athletes to Craftsbury!
