Thanks for masking: COVID reminder from Craftsbury

The guidance by The State of Vermont in their sector by sector re-opening document states:

"Anyone participating in outdoor recreation and fitness activities must wear a cloth face covering. All participants are expected to consistently maintain at least six feet of physical distance from anyone outside their immediate household."

But the state defines some exceptions. Specifically, masks or cloth facial coverings are not required when:

  • Someone is engaged in strenuous exercise

  • When physical distance of six (6) feet can be consistently maintained

  • For anyone under the age of 2

  • Any child or adult with a medical or developmental issue or challenge that is complicated or irritated by a facial covering

  • Anyone with difficulty breathing or as further set forth in guidance issued by the Vermont Department of Health.

What this means at the Center or on any Craftsbury maintained trail:

  • Please put your mask on before you get out of your car

  • Keep your mask on as you start skiing, and until you move out of the busy stadium area in the fields

  • As you get further from the busy area, IF no one else is in sight, you may pull down your mask, but always have it ready to pull back up if another skier comes into sight

  • Be sure to be wearing your mask again as you come back to the fields and parking lots

  • A buff is currently considered an acceptable face covering for outdoors use if placed over both nose and mouth

  • And please understand that there will be certain times and situations when a person is not required by the state to be wearing a mask
