Swap Raises Over $3000 for Scholarship Fund
Last Updated: 14.Nov.2016
The Outdoor Center held its first-ever Ski & Bike Swap last Sunday, November 6, and it was a great hit! People were lined up outside before we opened our doors at 10:00 a.m., and the bike shop and Activities Center were soon packed with people looking for gear. All told, we sold about $25,000-worth of used skis and bikes, roughly half of which were consignments from the community. The other half of items sold were used Outdoor Center rental bikes and skis moving on to new homes. It was really fun to watch community members walk out the door with “new” gear, especially the little kids who were getting their first pair of skis or first mountain bike.
Twenty percent of the proceeds from consigned equipment sales went directly to the Kathy Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports kids in our ski programs that need financial aid to participate in training and travel to races. To that end, the swap generated $3100 for the fund, which is a wonderful contribution that will benefit our BKL and junior skiers. Thank you to everyone who helped out at the swap, and to our consignors for helping us raise scholarship funds. We couldn’t have done it without your help!
