Thanks to everyone who came out to participate in the 4th Annual Singletrack Shootout Biathlon race, part of Craftsbury’s Oktoberfest weekend. We had almost 60 competitors on a beautiful fall day. The bikers completed a ~7k course with two shooting stages, while the runners did ~6k. Both groups did two shooting stages; the novices shot prone both times while the expert category had a prone and a standing stage. For the overall win, the novices and experts were combined, and a few times the novices came out on top!

In the men’s running race, novice Russell Primeau took the victory, despite 7 misses on the range. However, it was expert racer Susan Dunklee who took the overall running victory, beating Russell’s time by 1:30 and accruing just three penalties in her shooting stages. On the biking side, a pair of novices took both the men’s and women’s victories; Edward Meyer was first in the men’s bike with 3 misses, and Eleanor Campbell won the women’s bike, also with 3 misses.

Congrats to the victors and thanks to everyone who came out to try biathlon for the first time!
