SBTC Athletes Compete at U23 Trials
Last Updated: 03.Jul.2017
Last week our Small Boat Training Center athletes traveled to Princeton to race at the US U23 Trials. These rowers are our Under-23 summer athletes that come to the Center to train full time in the hopes of representing the US at the U-23 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria this year. We had a great showing by the team last week.
A big congratulations goes to our Men's Openweight Double consisting of Daniel Perez (Dartmouth, '20) and Nick Montalvo (Wisconsin, '18) for winning their trials race and receiving the privilege of representing the US later this summer.
Additionally, we had a Men's Lightweight Single, a Women's Lightweight Single, a Women's Openweight Double, and a Women's Lightweight Quad all racing last week as well. In the LM1x, Drake Deuel (Harvard, '21), finished fourth in the final. The LW1x of Jenny Mcilvane (Cape Cod) finished second in the final. The W1x, Kendall Sinosky (USC, '18) finished fourth in the final. The W2x, Sydney Michalak (UNH, '18) and Ashely Johnson (Syracuse, '18), made it to the repechage in their event. The LW4x with Emily Lane (UNH, '20), Grace Joyce (Wisconsin, '20), Brianna Wynne (Wisconsin, '18) and Marilyn Garberg (Wisconsin, '19) finished third in the final.
Congratulations to all our athletes on a week of great racing! We're looking forward to the rest of the summer's races and watching our Men's Double in Plovdiv.
