The cross country World Cup was in Oslo, Norway, last week for the second to last weekend of World Cup racing, and the final European stop of the year. World Cups in Norway are generally highly competitive, with many Norwegian Nation's Group skiers vying for top spots, and this was no exception. Green Racing Project skiers Ben Lustgarten and Ida Sargent represented the US, Lustgarten in two races and Sargent in one.

Drammen Classic Sprint

Last Wednesday, the sprinters took to the streets of Drammen for a classic sprint. In the men's qualifier, Lustgarten placed 62nd, while Sargent took 42nd in the women's qualifier, less than 3 sec from the top 30. The US had three women and one man qualify for the heats, with Sophie Caldwell scoring the top US result of 9th.

Holmenkollen 30/50k Classic Mass Start

On Saturday, Lustgarten had another shot at classic skiing in Norway during the famed Holmenkollen 50k. He placed 46th, his best World Cup result thus far. The US had one man in the top 30, in a competitive field stacked with Scandinavians.

Results from the two races can be found online at FIS-ski.com. Next up, the GRP skiers will race on (almost) home soil at World Cups finals in Quebec, CA. Five GRP skiers (Caitlin Patterson, Kaitlynn Miller, and Liz Guiney, in addition to Sargent and Lustgarten), qualified to represent the US in the races. The races kick off on March 17th for a three day mini-tour and the end of the 2016-2017 World Cup season!
