Preview: Craftsbury at the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta

Craftsbury’s sculling contingent is heading down to Boston this weekend for the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta. The Head of the Charles is the largest two-day rowing regatta in the world, with 11,000 racers and 225,000 spectators anticipated - a true convergence of the worldwide rowing community on the banks of the Charles each October.

There will be a Craftsbury tent stationed along the riverfront a bit downstream of the finish line from Friday, October 18th through Sunday, October 20th - come stop by the tent to chat with sculling coaches and GRP rowers, grab one of our famous chocolate chip cookies, and fill out a raffle card for a chance to win a free week of sculling camp! We'll also have stickers, a preview of 2020 camp dates, and other goodies. We look forward to catching up with everyone who stops by, enjoying the racing, and cheering on the countless Craftsbury-affiliated crews that will be competing this weekend!

Racers will take on the three-mile course one at a time, starting at approximately 15-second intervals. Bridges, turns, and crews overtaking other boats make for an exciting spectator event. Check out the HOCR website for information about spectating in person, or to follow along online via the livestream and HOCR app.

Though it would be almost impossible to account for every Craftsbury-connected crew (from coaches, interns, campers, GRP/GRP U23 alums, and friends), here is a preview of current Craftsbury athletes and sculling staff who will be racing this weekend:
