Jake Brown Finishes 22nd in Biathlon World Championships Individual

Jake Brown continued his streak of top 30 finishes with a 22ndplace in the Individual competition at IBU World Championships in Pokljuka, Slovenia.

The men’s Individual is a 4 shooting stage affair, with two bouts in the prone position and two in standing. For each missed shot, 1 minute is added to a competitor’s total time. Before and after each shooting, athletes ski a 3km circuit.

Jake began his race with bib number 11 in the 100 athlete field. A solid first lap and clean shooting put Brown into the lead early in the race. More good skiing and clean shooting kept Jake at the sharp end of the race through the second standing stage.

Entering the second prone stage in excellent position, Brown made one mistake, dropping him down the order into 23rd place. Jake stabilized his ranking across the 4th lap of the race entering the final shooting stage in 23rd. A single miss in the last standing stage put Brown into 24th.

Jake launched his trademark last lap charge across the final 3km of the competition and pulled himself up to 22nd at the finish.

Brown is expected to start the February 20th men’s relay, but Team USA’s coaches are yet to finalize the roster for the competition.
