Juniors End Seasons at SuperTour Finals and Spring Fling Events
Last Updated: 27.Mar.2016
This weekend brought two chances for Craftsbury juniors to contest their final races of the year: both on the same course, but two very different races. On Saturday, Phoebe Sweet competed in the SuperTour Finals Long Distance National Championships junior race, where the girls raced 17k. The junior race was held in conjunction with the open women’s race, but instead of racing 9 laps for the full 30k, the younger girls headed into the finishing lanes after 5 laps. Out of the 19 girls, and in her first race of this long distance, Phoebe finished a competitive 5th, breaking up what would have otherwise been a top nine Stratton Mountain School streak. Phoebe held an incredibly consistent pace, remaining in 5th place for the entirety of the race. Congrats to Phoebe for toeing the mass start with a number of fast ladies!

On Sunday, three BKL’ers skied the same course, but in a very different race environment. The annual Spring Fling was held on Sunday, offering a 7k BKL option, a 10k, and a 30k. The BKL’ers enjoyed sunny skies and warming temperatures for the two-loop race. Brian Bushey took the win, followed by Trey Jones in second, and Sage Grossi in third. Nice work to these three for cruising around together!
