Jennings Resigns
Last Updated: 25.Jan.2016
We are sad to announce the departure of Running Program Director Lynn Jennings. Lynn, who has coached at Craftsbury for nine years, and has been Director for the last five years, resigned from her position, with regret, on 15 December. We are sad to see her go, but we respect her desire to pursue new adventures at this time in her life.
Lynn started coaching at the Center as a lark under previous Director Greg Wenneborg in 2007. One week turned into more over the years until Greg handed the job over to Lynn in 2010. Growing the running program to include high school cross country, running/sculling, foliage weekends and an inaugural Trails2Ales weekend meant Lynn got to spend her summers and autumns residing in “the Duck Blind” with her dog Towhee with plenty of time for sculling on Big Hosmer, too.
Lynn remembers, “When Greg Wenneborg passed the job to me with Judy and Dick’s blessing, I remember thinking that being in charge of Craftsbury’s esteemed running program was the most amazing and cool job one could have. It has been exactly that and then some. I found great purpose, satisfaction and happiness directing the camps. I’ve been surrounded by superb colleagues and Craftsbury’s supportive and inspiring culture. Both of these crucial ingredients helped in numerous ways to make the running camps a growing and happy program. Thriving at Craftsbury was easy given what supported and cushioned me in my pursuits on behalf of the running camps. Being a productive member of the Craftsbury family was a healthy and beneficial way of life and I feel lucky and fortunate to have been on staff at the Center for nine years. Given what I experienced after a health scare two years ago and the almost-year it took to get back to full health, I began seriously contemplating the future and how I most wanted to capitalize on being healthy and strong with the time and energy to pursue important and adventurous life goals. That is the reason I am leaving Craftsbury. I want to set off into the world to pursue exciting new endeavors. It’s time for me to pass the job on to another.”
Lynn has given of her great energy, experience, vision and enthusiasm to our Running Camps, and to other aspects of life at the Outdoor Center. We thank her for these wonderful years, and we wish her nothing but the best in her new adventures.
The Outdoor Center will now begin the process of finding the next running camp director. Watch the website as we launch our search soon.
