This past weekend, the GRP skiers continued a run of good results at the World Cup in Beitostolen, Norway, and in a combined SuperTour/NorAm weekend in Silver Star, British Columbia.

Beitostolen World Cup

Saturday brought a fairly unusual format for World Cup cross country, a 15/30k individual start freestyle race. Usually individual starts tend to be shorter, and a 30k individual is a rare occurrence on the World Cup. However, the GRP skiers were up to the challenge! Caitlin Patterson posted another solid result in 32nd place in the 15k. Kaitlynn Miller took 50th. In the men's 30k race, Adam Martin had a solid result in 59th place. The following day brought the first relay competition of the season. In the women's 4x5k relay, Caitlin Patterson skied the third leg for the USA I team that placed 5th. Ida Sargent and Kaitlynn Miller were slated to race on the USA II team, but unfortunately one of their team members was sick, so they weren't able to race.

The World Cup continues next weekend in Davos, Switzerland, with freestyle sprints and freestyle distance races. Follow along and check results from last weekend at FIS-ski.com.

Silver Star NorAm

The rest of the GRP raced a freestyle sprint and classic 10/15k individual start races in Silver Star. In Saturday's freestyle sprint, all four GRP racers qualified for the heats. On the women's side, Liz Guiney qualified 12th and Corey Stock was 28th. In the men's qualifier, Ben Lustgarten took 13th, and Akeo Maifeld-Carucci squeaked into the heats in 30th. Both Guiney and Stock placed 4th in their quarterfinal heats, ending the day in 13th and 20th place, respectively. Lustgarten advanced all the way to the A Final where he placed 6th. Maifeld-Carucci placed 5th in his quarterfinal, good for 25th on the day. On Sunday, everyone improved on their places from the previous day. In the men's 15k classic, Lustgarten skied to 2nd place, just under 4 seconds from the win. Maifeld-Carucci placed 23th. In the women's 10k, Guiney took 10th place and Stock was 11th. The domestic GRP skiers will now return to Craftsbury and will be back in action in the Craftsbury Sprint Opener this weekend! Results from Silver Star are available on Zone4.ca
