GRP Ski and Biathlon 2017-2018
Last Updated: 26.Apr.2017
The Green Racing Project is excited to announce the addition of one new skier for 2017-2018: Wisconsin native and Northern Michigan University (NMU) skier Adam Martin.
Adam grew up in Wausau, WI where he skied for Wausau Nordic and the CXC Team. His high school ski career included a Wisconsin State Championship win in 2012 and a 26th place at Junior World Championships in 2014. Adam went on to attend NMU, where his successful collegiate career included 4 All-American finishes as well as a 3rd place in the 15k Classic at 2016 US Nationals. In 2017 he won the Elite 90 Award, which goes to the skier with the highest GPA competing at NCAA’s. Adam also has plenty of experience with international racing as a 3-time competitor at U23 World Championships where he most recently placed 15th in the 30k skiathlon at Soldier Hollow in 2017.
Adam double majored in Mathematics and Computer Science at NMU, and looks forward to applying his degree to coding projects and data analysis at the Outdoor Center. He also enjoys coaching, and is looking forward to training in a new location and exploring the trails around the Center. Please join us in welcoming him to the team!
Two Green Racing Project members will be moving on from the team this year: Heather Mooney and Ethan Dreissigacker. As a GRP member, Heather had multiple SuperTour top-6 finishes and represented the US Team at 2016 U23’s Worlds in Romania. She also worked tirelessly on mapping and advertising projects for the Center.
Ethan’s biathlon career with the GRP was highlighted by multiple NorAm podiums, as well as a chance to represent the US at IBU Cups in Canmore in 2015. Ethan plans to stay in Craftsbury and share his extensive knowledge of the sport as an assistant biathlon coach. He will also continue to build custom rifle stocks with Lost Nation R&D, a project he started as a GRP member which has since grown into a budding company.
Thanks to both Ethan and Heather for everything they’ve brought to the team, and we wish them best of luck as they move into the next chapters of their lives.
