GRP Rowers Head North

Two weeks ago our GRP rowers headed up to Montreal for our first race since mid-July. This race took place at the Montreal Olympic Basin. A lot of us agreed it was probably the nicest course we have done a 2k on.

We raced time trials and semi-finals on Saturday, with finals on Sunday morning. All of us made it out of the time trials and raced the semis Saturday afternoon. Lucas Bellows, Jack Reid, Emily Delleman, and Grace Joyce won their semis, going straight to the A-final. With Alexander Hedge, Luke Rein, and Emily Froehlich also making it to the A-final based on time. Erin Boxberger and Bridget Schodorf raced the B-final.

The men swept the A-final Sunday morning. Lucas Bellows won, Jake Reid came in second, Luke Rein was third and Alexander Hedge took fourth place. For the Women’s A-final Grace Joyce came in second, followed closely by Emily Delleman for third, and Emily Froehlich came in fourth. Erin Boxberger won the B-final, and Bridget Schodorf came in third.

We were all psyched to be able to race three times over the course of a weekend with some good competition and a fun atmosphere. To mitigate the Covid risk we camped rather than stay in a hotel or airbnb. An added twist to racing, but also some good team bonding.

Our next race is Green Mountain Head in Putney, VT on October 3rd!
