GRP Biathletes Compete at World Champs and at the Jericho NorAm

World Champs:

IBU World Championships started this past Thursday in Hochfilzen, Austria with a mixed relay. GRP biathletes Susan Dunklee and Clare Egan were joined by USBA teammates Lowell Bailey and Sean Dougherty. Susan scrambled for the team and cleaned using a total of four spares. She tagged off to Clare in fourth place. Clare maintained a top-10 position until struggling in her final shooting stage where she incurred one penalty lap. The team placed 16th with a total of two penalty laps and 13 spares.

In the following day's sprint, Clare had an incredible race finishing 20th. She was the first U.S. woman across the line and shot clean. This result was her second-best finish in an individual World Cup race behind her 16th place finish in Oestersund, Sweden last year. Clare was followed by Susan who placed 29th with three misses. 

In the pursuit race, Susan moved up from 29th to 22nd with four misses. Susan had the third fastest shooting time of the day. Clare placed 41st with three misses. 

World Champs racing continues on Wednesday with the individual race. Results and live coverage can be found at biathlonworld.com.

NorAm:

This past weekend was the 4th NorAm Cup race in Jericho. The first race of the weekend was a sprint. Emily Dreissigacker took the win for the women with two standing misses. She was followed by Hallie Grossman in second and Kaitlynn Miller in third for a GRP podium sweep. On the men's side, Alex Howe led the way for the GRP with a strong second place finish. He had two standing misses. Next across the line for the GRP was Ethan Dreissigacker in 6th and Mike Gibson in 7th. 

In the following day's pursuit race, Emily, Hallie, and Kaitlynn all maintained their start positions placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.  Alex also maintained his start position placing second with four misses. He was followed by Ethan in 8th and Mike in 9th.
