GRP and Craftsbury Biathletes Compete at U.S. Biathlon Championships in Jericho

This past weekend all the Craftsbury biathletes wrapped up their respective seasons at U.S. Biathlon Championships in Jericho, Vermont. The first of three races was a sprint. Susan Dunklee claimed a decisive win with three misses. Clare Egan also earned a spot on the podium in 3rd. She was followed by Hallie Grossman in 5th and Emily Dreissigacker in 7th. On the men's side, Alex Howe was the first GRP finisher in 9th with two standing misses. He was followed by Mike Gibson in 12th and Ethan Dreissigacker in 13th. In the youth category, Bjorn Westervelt finished 4th for the men while Marika Massey-Bierman finished 4th for the women. Matt Moody placed 6th in the senior master men's race.
In the pursuit race, Susan extended her lead to earn a second victory. Clare finished 4th with Emily in 5th and Hallie in 8th. On the men's side, Mike moved up to 8th with 5 misses and was the first GRP biathlete across the line. He was followed by Alex in 12th and Ethan in 14th. In the youth category, Bjorn moved up to 3rd for the men and Marika placed 5th for the women. Matt Moody moved up to 4th in the senior master men's category.
The final race of the season was a mass start. Susan made it three out of three by racing her way to another win. Clare finished 2nd and Emily 3rd for a GRP podium sweep. Hallie also had a strong race placing 6th. In the men's race, Mike was once again the first GRP finisher placing 10th. He was followed by Alex in 11th and Ethan in 13th.
