It's the day after Thanksgiving, and while everyone is coming out of their turkey comas, the Green Racing Project ski team is getting ready to race! We are excited to have a strong 8-person ski team this season, who have all put in the work over the summer and fall of training, and are ready to toe the line in the opening races of the season. Four GRP athletes are currently on the World Cup with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team in Kuusamo, Finland, and four more athletes are in West Yellowstone, Montana getting ready to race domestically.

In Kuusamo, athletes will take on a double classic race weekend: a classic sprint on Saturday the 24th, and a 10/15k classic individual start on the 25th. Typically, the first Scandinavian World Cups of the year boast very strong fields as the host countries have extra start spots. Look for Ida Sargent and Kaitlynn Miller in the classic sprint tomorrow. The qualifier is at 11:00 am in Finland, and the heats at 1:30 pm, so unless you wake up very early, it will be a good one to check out afterwards (7hour time difference between Kuusamo, Finland and Craftsbury!). Then, Adam Martin and Caitlin Patterson will get their chance to race in the 10/15k classic. Results for World Cup races (including live timing) are always available on FIS-SKI.com.

On the other side of the world, several GRP athletes are racing in the FIS Opener in West Yellowstone, MT on Saturday the 24th. Corey Stock and Liz Guiney have a 5k skate, while Akeo Maifeld-Carucci and Ben Lustgarten will take on a 10k skate. The opener should be a fairly competitive field, with a smattering of RMISA college skiers racing, as well as area juniors. However, the race is just a tune-up for the domestic GRP skiers, so their focus will remain on next weekend's SuperTour openers, also in West Yellowstone. Results from the FIS race will be available here.

We'll provide more up to the minute updates on the Green Racing Project Instagram and Facebook  page, and then make sure to check back on the GRP website for full results reports weekly. Thanks for following along!
