CSC Juniors Take on Three Days of Henchey Memorial Racing

For the first time since 2020, the COC hosted a SuperTour. And not just any SuperTour, but one combined with the UVM Carnival and an Eastern Cup, all in memory of our beloved Bill Henchey. What does this mean? Huge and wildly competitive fields and tight races all over the place. And what does that mean for our juniors? That they had awesome races, even if the finish number isn’t as sparkly as it would appear in a smaller field.

The first race was on Friday, with a full day of skate sprint racing. And what made this day special? The many many inches of freshly fallen snow. Racing began with six inches of fresh snow and finished with more. Maggie McGee was the only CSC junior to embark on the 3-day series. She was 91st in the qualifier, the 7th U18.

On Saturday, the soft conditions persisted for 10k racing all around, except 5ks for U16s. There was a full day of classic racing, with racers starting at intervals from 9:45am to 3:34pm, with a few breaks between races.
