CSC at Eastern High Schools
Last week, the final junior championships of the season took place at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington, Maine: the Eastern High School Championships! Eastern High Schools brings together the fastest 24 boys and 24 girls from Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, as well as a few skiers from the Great Lakes and the Midwest. According to NENSA, “the goal of the EHSC is to provide the highest quality competition for high school-aged athletes.” There are both state and individual titles on the line. Excitingly, Vermont won the overall state title!
The series kicked off with classic individual races on Saturday. As New England is prone to do in March, the weather was tricky with rain and wind. A bit of klister only adds to the fun! The classic races were mass starts! and we all know that head-to-head racing is the most thrilling. Both girls and boys raced 7.5k.

Sunday was a double-header, with a ski cross sprint race in the morning, followed by team relays in the afternoon. The ski cross race combines speed, agility, and a little bit of fearlessness!

The racing wrapped up with a 4X2.5k mixed medley relay. This format is fun because not only do girls and boys race together but there is also skate and classic technique. For simplicity, we only list the CSC athletes on each relay team but know there are always four athletes!
