Craftsbury in Canada
Last Updated: 06.Aug.2015
Senior World Championship Trials were not the only racing action for the GRP this past week. A contingent of SBTC and GRP scullers are up in St. Catharines, Ontario for the 2015 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. Racing started off on Tuesday with heats for the women's single. All four Craftsbury scullers, Maggie Fellows, Kristi Wagner, Mickey Fili, and Liz Vogt, advanced to Wednesday's semifinals, but all were stymied by crosswinds and waves and none advanced further.
The U23 women's double of Shiann Gardner and Maddie Pont won their opening heat and will advance to the semifinals tomorrow. Also racing tomorrow are the two Craftsbury senior women's doubles, Kristi and Liz and Mickey and Brooke Mooney (sister of GRP skier Heather Mooney). Kristi, Maddie, and Shiann will also all enter the U23 women's single rounds on Friday.
On the men's side, Andrew Reed and Parker Washburn joined the squad in Canada after a strong showing in their first race together as a pair at Senior World Championship Trials II. They will race the champ pair later in the week. SBTCer Ben Davison will also race later this week in the men's champ single.
Best of luck to all in their upcoming races.
