Craftsbury Biathletes Podium at USBA Rollerski Nationals

This past weekend thirteen Craftsbury-affiliated athletes competed at USBA Summer Rollerski Nationals in Jericho, Vermont. The weekend kicked off with a sprint race on Saturday. In the women’s event Clare Egan took top honors with clean shooting. She was joined on the podium by USBA and GRP teammate Susan Dunklee in second and GRP training partner Johanna Taliharm of Estonia in third. In 5th was Emily Dreissigacker. She was followed closely by Kelsey Dickinson in 6th and Hallie Grossman in 7th. Kaitlynn Miller and Liz Guiney represented the GRP ski squad placing 11th and 17th respectively. In the men’s race, Alex Howe raced his way to the win. Jake Brown was the next GRP finisher in 6th. He was followed by Raleigh Goessling in 10th and GRP skier Akeo Maifeld-Carucci in 13th. For the youth men, Bjorn Westervelt kept the Craftsbury winning streak alive with another first place finish.

In the following day’s mass start, Johanna had a strong race taking the win over Clare and Susan who placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. The GRP took places one though six in the women's race with Kelsey finishing 4th, Emily 5th, and Hallie 6th. For the men, Alex followed up his previous day’s strong performance with another podium finish in second. Raleigh placed 6th with Jake not far back in 8th. For the youth men, Bjorn raced his way to another strong finish in 3rd.
