The annual U16 championships were held this weekend at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington, Maine. The East experienced a cold snap this week, which threw some unexpected twists in to the race scheduling.  There are usually four races, but the sprint was cancelled due to extreme cold on Saturday morning.

The racing kicked off on Friday afternoon with a 5k race. Adrienne Remick placed 2nd in the girl’s race, while Finn Sweet was 2nd in the boys race, Bjorn was 8th, and Jack Young was 31st.  Saturday morning was off from racing, but Adrienne came on strong in the afternoon to win the 5k classic race! Finn followed suit and won the boys race! Bjorn was 9th and Jack was 28th.

The racing concluded on Sunday morning with more Craftsbury victory. Adrienne and Finn teamed up with Carl Kellogg and Ingrid Miller to take the win in the mixed relay.  Jack was on a team with Elery Loggio, TK Despres, and Lily Porth, and they finished 19th.  Bjorn anchored the team of Claudia Sherman, Brian Bushey, and Ava Stotz to 30th place.

Nice job to all these U16’s for bearing the cold and racing fast! Results can be found here
