CNSC Juniors on the Biathlon Podium

This past week, the North American Rollerski Biathlon Championships took place at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vermont. To the senior athletes, these races known as “trials” but for junior and masters athletes, these races present an opportunity to simply put a bib on and test your shooting and skiing meddle! These races were not held last year, which made it especially exciting to see everyone’s sweating and smiling faces this year.

Leo and Amelia Cirocsta were the lone CNSC representatives, but this didn’t hinder the Green representation on the podium. Both siblings competed in the U17 categories. Saturday was sprint day. The boys raced 7.2k. Leo placed 3rd, missing 2 prone and 3 standing shots. The girls also raced 6.2k, where Amelia missed 4 prone and 2 standing shots. Some speedy skiing put her in the winning position!

Sunday brought about pursuit style racing for the juniors and masters. Raced started at 5 second intervals based on the sprint order of finish. All U17’s raced 7k. Leo again placed 3rd, hitting just under 50% of his targets. In the girls’ race, Amelia again took the win, missing only 4 shots. Congratulations Leo and Amelia!
