We have work to do.

Here at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center we are geographically isolated, in one of the consistently least diverse states in the US, practicing some of the historically demographically whitest sports.

But that doesn't mean we aren’t horrified by the reality of what systemic racism is doing to our society and nation. While our isolation and privilege may mask it in our day-to-day life here, we know well that it exists and kills. (The isolation and privilege itself is a symptom - and product - of that same oppression). "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," as Dr. King wrote from Birmingham.

We stand in solidarity with the Black community. We, and many of the sporting communities we serve, must do better. Near term, that involves a lot of listening, learning, questioning, and voting. Sitting silently is tacit acceptance of the status quo.

Change doesn't happen through words alone. Join us in learning and taking a stand.
