Biathlon International Trials, Day 2: Short Individual
Today: a short individual. 5 laps, 4 shooting stages - prone, standing, prone, standing. A 45 second penalty per miss (no penalty lap).
The women hit the race course first and Amanda Kautzer (Crosscut) took the victory. Kautzer had three misses, finishing with a time of 43 minutes flat. The GRP’s Jackie Garso placed 2nd for the 2nd race in a row, missing 3 and finishing just 3 seconds behind Kautzer. What a race! Anna French (Altius/BSF) was third, also missing 3 targets, finishing in 44:19.
Vincent Bonacci (Crosscut/USBA) went 20/20, “cleaning” the entire race and winning the men’s race in obviously impressive fashion. Nikolas Burkhart (Crosscut) missed 3 and finished 2:51 back from Bonacci. Scott Lacy (Crosscut) missed 5 and finished in a time of 47:23 for 3rd place.
Racers get a day off tomorrow with action picking back up on Sunday for the final race in the series - a sprint. Thanks for following along!
