2023 Sculling Interns

Sculling camps have started and we’re thrilled to welcome a new batch of sculling interns to Great Hosmer. The sculling internship program offers high school and college students an opportunity to help out at sculling camps while working on their own rowing skills.

Maja Tellander - May 11-26

Maja is a sophomore at Dartmouth College studying government and is a member of the women’s rowing team. She’s from Wellesley, MA and rowed at Community Rowing Inc. in Boston for 6 years. Maja is very excited to be spending 2 weeks at Craftsbury to share her love for sculling!

Meghan French - May 11-26

Meghan is a Junior at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and has been rowing since she was in 8th grade. At Mount Holyoke, she rows competitively in the NEWMAC conference alongside being a double neuroscience & data science major. She grew up in New York state and her favorite flavor of ice cream is chocolate peanut butter.

Maya Turner - June 1-16

Rowing at the Delta Sculling Center in Stockton, CA, Maya Turner goes to an IB school, which prides itself on academics. After leaving soccer, she found she missed sports in her life. That’s when she discovered rowing, which has made one of the biggest impacts on who she is and what she loves.

Amelia Simpson - June 1-11

Amelia is a rising junior at Vanderbilt University studying human and organizational development. Despite hailing from the rowing hotbed of Brisbane, Australia, she only began rowing after joining Vanderbilt’s club team her freshman year. However, she quickly fell in love with the sport and was named an ACRA Freshman All-American in 2022. Outside of rowing, she enjoys watercolor painting, hiking and crochet, and plans to spend the rest of her summer after Craftsbury teaching horseback riding as a sleepaway camp counselor.

Bella Bursor - June 4-9 (Hosmer Point)

Bella is a rising sophomore at Lafayette College in Easton, PA where she is majoring in geology. She joined the Lafayette Crew Club at the beginning of her freshman year, where she learned to row and became a coxswain. Outside of rowing she likes being outside in many ways, including biking and hiking, she also enjoys the occasional book!

Michael Gronewold - June 11-30

Michael has always liked water, and growing up with a mom who rows led to liking boats, and eventually, rowing himself. He’s been to Craftsbury several times as a camper since 7th grade, but this will be his first year interning. He really loves the activity and work that goes into the experience in Vermont.

Weiyi Huang - June 18-30

Hailing from the desert state of Texas, Weiyi began his rowing career on one of the few bodies of waters in the whole state. His rowing adventures would end up taking him to see much greener shrubbery as he learned from his mistakes. Today, he’s never been more dedicated to the sport and hopes to inspire others to find their passion in it as well.

Vladislav Grass - July 6-28

Vlad is a rising senior at The Hotchkiss School where he has rowed on the crew team since 2020, and he hopes to continue rowing in college. This is Vlad’s second year as an intern at Craftsbury. Outside of rowing he participates in debate and wrestling. In his free time Vlad enjoys hiking, swimming, and playing Magic The Gathering.

Michael Cairo - July 6-14

Michael lives in Boston, MA where he has rowed at Boston College High School for the past four years. Outside of rowing, he love sci-fi novels, playing with his dog Bella, biking, and teaching himself the cello. He’s very excited to meet everyone and spend time at Craftsbury this summer.

Jordan Maxham - July 16-28

Jordan went to New Trier High School outside of Chicago where he rowed for four years, and now attends Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. Outside of rowing he enjoys hiking, biking, and playing chess.

Campbell Leid - Jul 30-Aug 11

2023 marks five years since Campbell’s introduction to the sport of rowing – and her passion for the sport continues to grow EVERY DAY. She currently serves as an assistant coach for Tempe Junior Crew in Tempe, Arizona while attending Arizona State University pursuing a degree in Sports Business and Business Communication with a Sports, Culture, and Ethics certificate. Following graduation, she hopes to be a collegiate coach and an athlete advocate, specifically assisting athletes in their transition upon retirement. “I am super excited to be a part of the Craftsbury community as a returning intern alongside people who share the same love and excitement for the sport,” she says.

Sadie Bell - Jul 30-Aug 11

Sadie is from Putney, Vermont where she rows for the Putney School Rowing team. She has grown up loving being outside. Her favorite sports to do outside are rowing, skiing, and biking! She also loves to bake and cook yummy foods.

Alexandra Paluszek - Aug 13-Sep 1

Alex is from Farmington, New Hampshire, and is a rising senior at Trinity College, where she is majoring in Environmental Science. She learned to row in high school, at Vermont Academy, and learned to scull at her local club, Great Bay Rowing, which she races for in the summer. She attended the Head of the Charles for Trinity in the fall of 21’ and 22’ and is excited to be rowing this summer, after interning for Craftsbury last summer.

Lindsey Eattock - Aug 13-25

Lindsey is a rising high school senior from the South Jersey area. She is a varsity coxswain with Moorestown Rowing Club on the Cooper River. In addition to coxing she’s been fortunate enough to row singles over the summer. Aside from spending the majority of her day at the boathouse, she can be found playing golf. She’s beyond excited for this summer at Craftsbury.

Annie Cloud - Sep 7-17

Annie is from Narberth, Pennsylvania and is returning to Craftsbury for her third summer as an intern. She started rowing her freshman year of high school with her triplet sisters. She just completed her freshman year at Stanford University where she is a member of the lightweight rowing team and is majoring in human biology. She has been racing larger sweep boats in college and cannot wait to be surrounded by singles again at Craftsbury!

Jordan Stock - Sep 7-22

Jordan is from Dallas, TX and rows as a Lightweight for Stanford’s Crew. Outside of rowing, she’s a dog-lover, an avid runner, and a fan of the outdoors. “I’ve rowed for over five years now. I can’t wait to get to know y’all and make camp as fun and formative of an experience as it was for me my first time in Craftsbury during the summer of 2019,” she says.
