Racer Instructions added December 12
Need an opportunity to put on a bib and practice going hard? Join our low-key biathlon time trial. This is intended for biathletes, particularly juniors and masters, who would like an early season on-snow race but won’t be racing USBA senior trials. We won’t have fancy timing, awards, or our normal volunteer brigade. Rather, we will organize a collaboration among club coaches to help with range scoring and timing.
Who: Experienced biathletes who have a current USBA or Biathlon Canada membership.
If your club is sending 3 or more athletes, we request at least one coach/parent/friend to volunteer with us on the range resetting targets, running a stopwatch, shuttling rifles, etc.
Format: Sprint. 6k (4k for U13/15). Slightly shortened penalty loop. Exact course dependent on snow conditions.
U13/15 can opt for cuff of block options and will shoot prone only (small targets, big targets.)
U13/15/17 only carry rifle rack-to-rack. (Rifle can be brought to mat by coach for less experienced U13/15 participants.)
Schedule:
10:40am - Coaches meeting and task assignments
11:00am - Zero
Noon - Race start
Registration:
Please sign up by Saturday, December 14 at noon so we can plan.
Registration will be handled the same way you would sign up for a Sunday Open Range Session.
You need to have a current membership from USBA or Biathlon Canada, a basic rifle safety certification from USBA or Biathlon Canada, and a Craftsbury biathlon membership (yearly or day pass option).
Sign in to your Craftsbury account (or create one), click on biathlon then click on sign up for a session, select December 15th on the range calendar and click on the 11am-1pm biathlon range session. (Click through to read more details on how to book an open range session if you are unfamiliar with the process.)
If you are having trouble figuring out the range sign-up system, try buying a biathlon membership first then going to the calendar as shown in the video below:
