We are excited to host the opening Biathlon Regional Cup at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center on December 11 and 12. The Regional Cup attracts athletes from the New England area (and beyond!) and is designed for biathletes of all ages that have some shooting experience. There will be no beginner’s clinic or rifles to borrow.

On Saturday, we’ll have a new race format called a “Scramble” which is borrowed from the scramble (first) leg of a biathlon relay race. It will be a mass start, where athletes will shoot twice, prone then standing, and just prone for U13’s and U15’s. Like a relay, athletes will be up to three spare rounds for missed targets, then will ski a penalty loop for each still open after the three spares. So, ski + prone (3 spares then loops) + ski + standing (3 spares then penalty loops) + ski. U13’s will ski a total of 3k, while U15’s and above will ski 6k.

On Sunday, we’ll do the hottest new race format on the big stage, the Short Individual. In the Short Individual, U13’s and U15’s will do four prone stages, while all older athletes will do Prone, Standing, Prone, Standing. For each missed, there is a 45 second time penalty added, and 30 seconds for the youngest divisions. U13’s and U15’s will ski a total of 5k, and older athletes will do 10k.

Friday, December 10: 2:00-4:00pm - Official Training

Saturday, December 11: 1:00pm - zero, 2:00pm - race start

Sunday, December 12: 1:00pm - zero, 2:00pm - race start

Registration is available below. It closes Thursday, December 9 at 10:00pm. There is NO day of registration.

$30 per race for U17 and above, $15 per race for U13’s and U15’s.
