This program is designed for experienced junior racers ages 14-20. Many current program participants are successful junior skiers at the state, regional, and national levels. The program costs $400 for the summer/fall session. Practices for the summer session will start on Wednesday, May 1st. While school is still in session, practices will be Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:00pm and Sundays at 9:00am. During the summer, practices will be Tuesdays through Fridays at 9:00am and Sundays at 9:00am as well. Saturdays will be a "flex" day that will include practices/training sessions as needed. Participants are expected to attend practices at least 3 days per week, follow a training plan on days not at Craftsbury, and keep a training log. Participation in summer training is a prerequisite for those interested in joining our winter program. Interested skiers who have not skied with Craftsbury before should contact coach Anna as soon as possible prior to registering: anna.schulz@craftsbury.com. New participants will not be accepted after July 1st. When school starts again in the fall, practices will be Tuesdays - Fridays at 4:00pm and Sundays at 9:00am. Training will include rollerskiing, pole-running, running, hill bounding, strength training, biathlon and other activities. The training program will be designed and led by our full-time coaching staff.
Participants are required to have the following: current Craftsbury Outdoor Center Membership; running shoes and active clothing; a bike helmet; a camelbak or some way to comfortably carry water/food while running; at least one high-visibility shirt or vest; a mountain bike; skate and classic rollerskis, boots, and skate and classic poles with rollerski ferrules.
