Training week of 8/21

Hi CSC squad! Here’s what’s up this week:

EVERYONE:

  1. Attendance form: particularly helpful when y’all start going different directions for fall sports

  2. Training plan: here and in the same place in googleland

  3. Last week of the summer schedule! This is the last week of our summer schedule. On 8/28, we’ll switch to our fall schedule, a current draft of which is posted under the “schedule overview” here. We will reassess a bit based on numbers as we dive into the fall, and y’all should feel free to message/email us with feedback, or put it in the attendance form (stuff like, “if BKL were on Tuesday instead of Thursday in the fall I could/would actually come,” etc.).

  4. Winter schedule for all the programs: when we know, we’ll tell you, we promise. Winter practice schedules are dependent on staff availability, which is a bit of a moving target because it turns out we need a lot of coaches to effectively coach 200 of you during daylight/after-school hours.

EC RACE + HS COMP:

  1. Preseason for fall sports: we know a lot of you pivot to fall sports starting this week. That’s cool. Training logs are a useful way to keep us informed about what you’re up to, and emails/Slack messages work great too! If you’re confused about how to manage a main course of fall sports and a side helping of ski training, talk to us.

  2. Morning practices generally @ 9:00am this week: giving you one more week to eke out some sleep time

  3. Wednesday @ KT: if you need a bike or something, let us know.

U14:

  1. About practice durations when combined with juniors: if your practice is fully combined with the juniors, you should look under the “350 hours” column to see how long your practice will take. If it says “2:00” you should expect to have a 2 hour practice. If you have a U14-specific practice or are just joining juniors for part, it will typically be an hour and a half. Always feel free to reach out to coaches if this is confusing.

  2. Morning practices generally @ 9:00am this week: giving you one more week to eke out some sleep time

  3. Fall sports: talk to us if you’re confused about how to manage fall sports and some ski training. If you’re pivoting fully to fall sports, that’s great! Just keep us in the loop.

  4. Wednesday @ KT with the juniors: if you’re super duper into mountain biking and want to come with us, reach out to coaches!

BKL:

Last regular week! After this week we’re going to cut BKL down to one day/week, since it sounds like the vast majority of you will be tied up with other sports in the fall.

MASTERS:

Sorry that you’ve had some practice flux as the GRP has also had some practice flux. We’ll keep working to try to make this smoother. Stay tuned for this week’s details. Maybe you’ll get Ollie back occasionally if his darling children cooperate…
