Training week of 8/14

Hi CSC squad! Here’s what’s up this week:

EVERYONE:

  1. Attendance form: so useful! Like when we ALMOST had the right number of van seats for everyone last week….

  2. Training plan: here and in the same place in googleland

EC RACE + HS COMP:

  1. Limited practices this week: Anna, Audrey, and Callie will be with a whole pile of the junior squad in Lake Placid for the final training camp of the summer. Rick and Ollie will be holding down the fort. Ollie’s availability hinges on his two small daughters not eating his parents alive/getting sick/holding him hostage/the usual issues like that and Rick will be diving into yet another biathlon camp, so stay tuned in case we have to make changes.

  2. No Thursday biathlon; no Friday practice.

  3. Morning practices @ 9:00am this week: slightly later practices = yay for you! But also a necessity for some coaching logistics.

  4. Paying for Hosmer overnight and Whites mini-camp: you can pay online here—PLEASE just do this already

  5. Lake Placid Training camp: those of you who are going should have the relevant info… if you don’t, email/text/Slack Anna right away

  6. Looking ahead to when school starts: we’ll go to 4pm practices on probably 3 week days (not sure which ones yet… will solicit feedback shortly) and also 9am practices on Sundays. If you have other brilliant ideas/training needs to run by us, go for it.

  7. Canada, eh?! There will be a bunch of Canadian skiers at the Center this week, which will be cool—say hi to them!

  8. Not focused on hours this week: the hours posted on the plan are mostly to indicate practice duration. This week is weird with so many people gone.

  9. Senior Nationals: (continuing to re-post because why not) there have been some questions about this. This year senior nationals are in Soldier Hollow, UT, from January 2-7, with junior qualifying races Jan 2-5. We typically take only a handful of juniors—specifically those who are trying to qualify for the U18 Scandinavian Cup trip or Junior World Championships, are those who are trying to get a year of experience with an eye to that in the future. Occasionally we bring as many as 5-6 juniors if people are super stoked. We’re sorting through some options right now. The trip will be about $2000/person and scholarship aid is limited for this one. If you are really excited about the idea of going, reach out to coaches. If you have not yet completed a full Eastern Cup season, this is not a trip for you.

U14:

  1. Trainin’ with the juniors this week: Anna, Audrey, and Callie will be with a whole pile of the junior squad in Lake Placid for the final training camp of the summer.

BKL:

  1. Anna and Audrey are gone with the juniors this week! Don’t scare Rick away as he holds things together in our absence…

  2. No BKL biathlon practice this week due to a biathlon camp that Rick is coaching and many of you are doing.

MASTERS:

Way to stomp the Elmore TT!!

See you soon!
