Rollerskis

Hey team,

We are inching toward the season that involves rolling around on little wheeled sticks with no brakes—get pumped!!

As usual, you have a few options for acquiring rollerski gear. Before you make decisions, you should check out our summer training checklist to see what we recommend. Adam Terko (MNC head coach) also wrote up this nifty little summary re: roller skis and we wholeheartedly agree with it.

Some recommended options for getting yourselves outfitted with rollerskis:

1. Buy locally: visit a local shop. They’ll take care of you! Just go in armed with some info about what you need.

2. Buy online with our nifty discount: purchase rollerskis (and poles and whatever else your heart desires) through enjoywinter.com with a nifty coupon code (code in your inboxes) at checkout for the discount. PLEASE do not share that code outside our club. We are granted special access through our rep.

3. Rent: head over to our club store to order your rentals. Rollerski rental prices have gone up a bit so that we stand a fighting chance of not losing a bunch of $ on them over the years we rent them.

A note about renting vs buying, similar to what we sent out in the fall: our rental program is meant to (1) help families deal with rapidly growing kids that have rapidly changing gear needs; and (2) ease the shock of having to buy ALL your equipment (from boots to skis to poles to rollerskis and beyond) basically all at once. That said, it makes sense to acquire some of the necessary things as you go along. If you’re headed into your senior year of high school and have no intention of rollerskiing after this summer, then don’t feel like you have to buy rollerskis. Or if you haven’t really roller skied before and have no idea what any of this is really about, renting is probably a great option. If, however, you occupy the middle ground and envision quite a few summers of rollerskiing ahead of you, it probably makes financial sense to buy a pair. Rollerskis are great because there are a lot of one-size-fits-all options that you won’t outgrow!

Reach out with questions. We will likely be rollerskiing at practices by mid-May.
