Training week of 5/6

EVERYONE:

Party-mode SkiErgs; work-mode juniors.

  1. Older-kid biathlon and U14s join the party this week with their first practices of the season. The rest of you get added to the schedule throughout the spring.

  2. Registration is now open for summer! Holler at us with questions—the platform has proven finicky for some people.

  3. Program evaluations can be completed here.

  4. The Genny Tenny is this Sunday, Mother’s Day, May 12. Registration and info on our website; note that U18s get $20 off!

JUNIORS:

  1. Attendance form - you know it! It’s particularly helpful as we learn who’s doing what this spring.

  2. Spring check-in meetings: part of the program evaluation (linked above) for juniors is reflecting on your season a bit, and then we want to talk to you about it. You’ll get a link to the schedule to sign up for a spot when you do your program eval. Don’t stress, we’ll keep adding times. The signup sheet seems to be giving some people trouble, so let us know if you can’t access it. We would like to have short (30 min) meetings with everyone in the junior program by the end of the school year.

  3. Annual/semi-annual bloodwork: [ICYMI last week] as teenage endurance athletes, it’s a really good idea to get bloodwork done at least once a year to check for things like low iron. Some of you are all over this. Others likely have never had this done before. Please ask your doctor about it and talk to coaches if you have questions. While female athletes are more prone to low iron, it can happen to male athletes, too, so we encourage everyone to get tested.

U14s:

  1. Welcome back! For gear, you just need running shoes this week. We won’t be rollerskiing for a lil’ bit.

BIATHLETES:

  1. We’re back! Junior and U14 biathletes start up this week on Wednesdays after ski practice.
