Training week of 2/12

CSC biathletes headed to Jericho last week for some racing under the lights!

EVERYONE:

  1. Attendance form: you know the drill!

  2. Training plan: still here - you gotta scroll down on that there page

  3. Holy smokes Jack Young! In case you missed it, our very own Jack Young, who has skied with Craftsbury since he was just a sprout, just had his World Cup debut and qualified 11th in the sprint! We’re so proud! Story here.

JUNIORS:

  1. Way to stomp the qualifier! Craftsbury skiers represented ~17% of the whole race field… whoa, that’s cool. Good job crushing it and supporting your teammates.

  2. Holy moly we have a weekend off from big races. We all need it! Check in with coaches if you have questions about high school racing + managing your energy.

U14s:

  1. MS race Weds: if you wanna do it but don’t have a school team, please email Anna to see about joining as an independent.

  2. The BKL Festival is coming! As U14s, you are still in BKL! Remember how fun the Festival was last year? This year the Rikert Nordic Center in Ripton, Vt., is hosting the very same event on March 2-3. Register here. Coaches are going to cheer, coach, and help wax skis. Discounted registration ends on February 9, and online registration closes on 2/17. A reminder that NENSA membership is required for participation at the Festival.

BIATHLON:

  1. We had an intrepid crew that took on the Thursday night Jericho race this week. Great job with the glitter, fantastic racing under the lights, and most of all, awesome work being supportive teammates to each other. Your collaborative and fun spirit was noticed by many. We are proud of you!

  2. On tap this week:

    -Normal practice times for everybody.

-Bayley-Hazen Biathlon race at home on Saturday. We'd love to see a bunch of you out there. Sign-up through skireg. There's both beginner and expert categories so encourage family members and friends to come try out the sport.  Beginner BKL should sign-up as novices, Experienced BKL and up should sign-up as experts.

-Biathlon World Championships are happening this week in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.  Your optional  but encouraged homework: watch a race.  You can stream these races for free (live or replay) by creating an account on the Eurovision Sports website or downloading their app.  There are some GRP athletes racing, including Jake and Jackie, and other athletes like Sean and Tara who live locally and train in Craftsbury.

CATAMOUNTS:

  1. Turning back to winter this week: please remember all the warm things! It’s not actually spring yet…

This year the Rikert Nordic Center in Ripton, Vt., is hosting the very same event on March 2-3. Register here. Coaches are going to cheer, coach, and help wax skis.
